Guy Westoby BSc PG Dip MSc MBACP (Accred.)
Guy is an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist who works with adults in Glasgow and on the telephone. He specialises in social anxiety, generalised anxiety and depression and is an Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and is registered with the BACP Voluntary Accredited Register.
Guy’s approach is flexible and depends on what someone is looking for- whether that is brief counselling with a clear set of short term goals, or longer term therapy which aims to bring about significant change. His approach is humanistic, incorporating his person-centred post-graduate training with existential thinking about human distress and training in Emotion-Focussed Therapy. Guy is sensitive and thoughtful and is comfortable with powerful emotions, whilst having a down to earth attitude to mental health.
His counselling experience comes from working in a variety of settings including private practice; supporting employees through an Employee Assistance Programme; the third sector within various mental health charities within Glasgow, as well as working in colleges and universities and working for several years as a researcher in a university counselling research clinic.
Client Testimonial
"Before seeking counselling I had been off work for six weeks. I quickly returned to work as a result of the improvements that it brought about. My body was racked with pains before the counselling and I am relieved of these and my mind is clear. Guy has a voice that instantly soothes and enabled me to relax as he led me onwards to health and happiness. I owe him a great debt." Margaret, teacher.
